Description

The Driver Instructor Training program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and expertise necessary to become a Class 5 driving instructor.  You will gain the ability to train beginners in how to operate a vehicle or to help individuals upgrade their driving abilities. You will develop skills to instruct, integrate safety and defensive driving techniques, and interpret sections of the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.

Important Notes: 

  1. Personal Travel - Students with limited availability should wait to apply when they can fully commit to their studies.  
  2. Time Limits – It is the student's responsibility to manage the timelines set by Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) to qualify and maintain the Manitoba Driver Training Permit. 

Driving Instructor Permit – Successful completion of the Driver Instructor Training program meets the education and examination requirements for the Class 5 Manitoba Driver Training Permit. Applicants must also demonstrate to MPI that they meet MPI’s defined licensing, experience, and other requirements.  For more visit: Becoming a driver instructor (mpi.mb.ca)
