Program Outline

To earn a Statement of Achievement, you must pass:

TRAN-1080 Driver Instructor Training Theory

TRAN-1081 Driver Instructor Training In-Car 

TRAN-1082 Driver Instructor Training In-Car Certification Exam

You will need a minimum grade of 80% to pass each course.

TRAN-1080 Driver Instructor Training Theory (45 hours)

  • Schedule: 3-hour class once a week, generally in the evenings 
  • Format:  In-person at Notre Dame Campus (NDC)
  • Final Exam:  Last Class at Notre Dame Campus (NDC)
  • Re-write Option: One week later, same time
Break After Exam:
  • Two weeks off if you pass on the first attempt.
  • One week off if you need to re-write.

TRAN-1081 Driver Instructor In-Car Training  (10 weeks)
  • Schedule: Once a week, 4 hours (e.g. Mondays 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm), time slots based on instructor availability
  • Format: You will work in student pairs with an instructor (2+1)
  • Location: Starts and ends at Notre Dame Campus (NDC)

TRAN-1082 Driver Instructor In-Car Certification Exam  (4 hours)

  • Timing: Within two weeks after the last in-car of in-car training session.
  • Format: You will be with two instructors (one acts as a mock student driver, the other is the evaluator).
  • Location: Notre Dame Campus (NDC)
  • Re-write Option: Within 2 weeks, if needed.
