More InformationIn this course,
students will learn how to train novice drivers to be safe and confident when
operating a class 5 vehicle in Manitoba. Students will familiarize themselves
with the Highway Traffic Act and Drivers and Vehicles Act and reference each
when explaining how to safely operate a vehicle in various circumstances.
Through exploring best teaching practices including safe and inclusive learning
environments, facilitation, and instructional strategies, and providing
effective feedback, students will develop a lesson plan and deliver a lesson.
By the end of the course, students will be prepared to apply the skills needed
for training novice drivers.

More InformationIn this course, students will build on concepts from the
theory course and practice coaching novice drivers to be confident in
prioritizing safety and following Manitoba legislation while operating a class
5 vehicle. Throughout each driving session, students will create a safe and
inclusive learning space both inside and outside of the vehicle. They will use
coaching strategies to support novice drivers through a pre-drive check and
while practicing on-the-road driving skills. Through delivering in-vehicle lessons,
students will use appropriate feedback strategies during and following the
session. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to train novice
drivers for safe operation of vehicles on Manitoba roads.

More InformationFollowing successful completion of both Driving
Instructor Theory and Driving Instructor In-Car Training courses,
students will be able to take the final Driving Instructor Certification
Exam.
During this 3-hour practical certification exam, students
will be acting as the driving instructor and coaching a novice driver through a
lesson. They will apply the concepts learned throughout their theory and
practice into an authentic learning experience.
Following successful completion of the Driving Instructor
Certification Exam, students can find information on the website
for Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) outlining final requirements for
becoming a Class 5 Driving Instructor in Manitoba.
