ELEC-1016Electrical Code
More InformationThis introductory course explains all the sections of the Electrical Code, each rule and paragraph throughout, calculating all of section 8, and all Amendments of the Manitoba Hydro and City of Winnipeg Amendments to the present Code. At the end of the ten weeks, give an examination to the students and check papers.
Diagrams on the board of rules will be provided. The only text that is required is the present code book, and the instructor will supply the local amendments.

More InformationThis course will address how to work professionally in a safe environment and explore the rules and regulations that govern a general labourer's workplace. Students will examine safety policies and procedures and the importance of following them. Students will analyze how to create a safe working environment and what can jeopardize the safety of employees, employers and even clients. The knowledge gained will then be applied to the standard documentation required of general labourers.
Students who successfully complete this micro-credential are awarded with a digital badge in Safety Standards and Awareness.

More InformationStudents will learn the basic use and care of common hand tools, power tools, and equipment found at most work sites where general labourers are employed. The focus will be on understanding what each can be used for, the safety features, and the proper ergonomics when using. Students will also review the importance of regular maintenance and care of tools and equipment and the various inspection procedures.
Students who successfully complete this micro-credential are awarded with a digital badge in Tool and Equipment Use and Care.

More InformationStudents will interpret wiring diagrams and symbols, understand the various devices and equipment associated with house wiring, will learn the process for properly terminating wiring and grounding in order to comply with Electrical code. The student will become proficient in wiring with non-metallic sheathed cable and will wire projects and test operation of circuits. (First Class is Mandatory)
