Admission Requirements

If your academic history includes any of the following, please visit me.rrc.mb.ca/Catalogue/Information/MyEducation for important information: post-secondary studies at an institution other than Red River College; Modified (M), English as an Additional Language (E), or GED high school courses; or home schooling.

Proof of completion of admission requirements is normally due within 30 days of applying unless otherwise noted in the program's admission requirements.

Programs starting in Fall 2020 - due to the temporary closure of our campuses, proof of completion of admission requirements is due within 30 days of applying or July 15, 2020 (whichever is later) unless otherwise noted in the program's admission requirements. If you apply after July 15, the submission deadline is 5 days from date of application.

Program starting in January 2021 or later - submission of required documentation is due within 30 days of applying unless otherwise noted in the program's admission requirements. English language assessments, if applicable, are due within 30 days of applying. However, due to COVID-19 related closures, proof of successful completion of the following items is due 90 days after the service provider re-opens:

  • Academic Communication Assessment (ACA), Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Readiness Assessment (AMERA), employment confirmation form, first aid course, physical fitness assessment, reading skills assessment (Degree of Reading Power - DRP), reference letters, student clinical practice form, and volunteer or employment/work experience forms

In-person submission of documents is currently not available, but the following options are available:

Upload Through Your Future Student Account (preferred method)

  • Scan your document(s) and save the file. Maximum upload size is 5 MB.
  • Go to www.rrc.ca/apply and log in.
  • Click on your application, then Supplemental Items & Documents.
  • Find the applicable Supplemental Item - click on Browse.
  • Find the file you saved and double click on it.
  • Click on Upload. You can upload more than one document to the same Supplemental Item.
  • Status should read 'Received'.

Regular Admission Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Education Degree
    • Submit proof of successful completion of a Bachelor of Education degree from a Manitoba university or its equivalent
    • Preference will be given to those applicants having completed a B.Ed. program focusing on secondary school teaching
    • Post-secondary transcripts must have been issued within 6 months prior to your application date, and submitted in a sealed envelope directly from the post-secondary institution.
    • If you are required to complete an English language assessment, do not submit your transcripts until requested to do so.  See English Language Requirements (ELRs) for more information.

  2. English Language Requirements (ELRs)
    • Have you successfully completed the equivalent of three years of full-time secondary (high school) education in Canada, the United States, or an ELR exempt country where English was the language of instruction? To view a list of ELR exempt countries click here.
    • If yes, you appear to meet English language requirements. Submit your transcripts for verification purposes.
      or
    • If no, you are required to submit proof of meeting an English language requirements option. If you choose to complete an English language assessment, review this program's approved assessments and required levels.
      or
    • If you completed all of your education in Canada, the United States, or an ELR exempt country in English but did not complete three years of high school, submit your transcripts for review.
      and
  3. Letters of Reference
    • Submit two letters of reference from an education professional supporting your application into the Business/Technology Teacher Education program
      and
  4. Applicant Declaration for Check Documents Form
  5. Candidate Information and Verification Meeting
    • The candidate meeting is an important part of the admission process, as it allows both the applicant and representatives of Teacher Education to discuss:
      • Submitted documentation
      • Credit for acceptable education
      • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) opportunities
      • Manitoba Education’s professional certification requirements
      • Details of the program, including expectations of both in-class and mentorship experiences
      • The applicant's interests and strengths relative to this teachable subject area
    • Applicants should allow one hour for the conversation
    • Meetings are arranged by the Teacher Education office once all admissions documentation is received by Enrolment Services
    • This item is not due within 30 days of applying and will be requested by the College at a later date

Program Progression Requirements
Program progression requirements are not due within 30 days of applying and should be submitted after you start classes.

  • Criminal Record and Adult and Child Abuse Checks
    • This program requires students to submit current original/official versions of one or more of the following checks:
      • Criminal Record Check (CRC)
      • Provincial Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR)
      • Adult Abuse Registry Check (AAR)
    • If you have a criminal record you may not be able to complete the program
    • If you are listed on an Abuse Registry you will not be able to complete the program

    • These documents have expiration dates and should not be obtained prior to timeline indicated on the Applicant Declaration for Check Documents form
