Description
This pathway is designed to provide access to specific Red River College Polytechnic programs for residents of Manitoba who have faced barriers to participating in or successfully completing post-secondary education. These barriers may include social, economic, or cultural factors, limited access to formal education, or geographic challenges associated with living in remote communities where post-secondary opportunities are not readily available.
This pathway helps build the academic, personal, social, and financial readiness needed for the Polytech programs listed below. Once you successfully complete the program, you will be granted a seat in one of the eligible programs.
How Progression Works
During the winter term, Pathway to Health students must apply to their next program of choice by March 15. Students may select up to three programs. The first choice may include all available program options, while the second and third choices are limited to specific options. Placement in your first or second program choices are not guaranteed.
Program seats will be assigned in the order applications are received after March 15. Every student who successfully completes the Pathway to Health program and meets progression eligibility requirements will be offered a seat in one of the eligible progression programs.
However, there are a limited number of seats available for Pathway students in each specific Nursing, or Health Sciences programs. Therefore, if the number of applications exceeds the available seats, placement will be determined by Grade Point Average (GPA). Students may also apply directly to their preferred program to pursue a secondary application process. To be eligible for a pathway seat, students must successfully complete the Pathway to Health program and meet the admission requirements of their selected program. Please refer to the admission requirements below for specific details.
