Design your own unique digital illustration with the same tools used by the pros. By the end of this five-day online camp, you will have a digital art piece that you can share with others.  

This camp focuses on technology, art and creativity. Only 12 seats are available.

Ages: 14-18.

Topics include:

  • How to set up a new document
  • How to navigate the Procreate interface
  • The most common gesture shortcuts
  • How to scale and manipulate your brushes
  • How to navigate your layers, and use them efficiently
  • How to edit your colours/values and shades
  • How to create new colour pallets
  • How to import reference photos, brushes and other documents
Materials needed:

  • iPad and stylus, such as Apple Pencil
  • Procreate app (additional, one-time cost of $13.99)
  • Microsoft Teams app (included with registration)
  • Secondary device for use with Microsoft Teams (recommended but not required)
  • Internet connection

Calling all rainbow gamers! Meet your peers, learn game development and develop new skills from 2SLGBTQIA industry professionals and allies in a safe and supportive environment. Whether your passions and talents lie in drawing, writing, animation, music or programming, you are welcomed.

This camp is offered by Red River College Polytechnic and New Media Manitoba and focuses on technology, art and creativity. Only 12 seats are available.

New for 2022: This camp is being offered in-class.

No previous game development experience is required. Come with an open mind, a desire to learn, and see what a powerful creative medium video game development can be.

Ages: 13-18.

Topics include:

  • Character design – anatomy, composition, proportion and shape
  • What works and what doesn’t work and what you like and don’t like (exploring favourite games and genres)
  • Storytelling – nonlinear and traditional
  • Creating worlds, characters, setting and the rules for that world and how that can be turned into game mechanics
  • Creating sprites and backgrounds – using created images or pre-made, pen and paper images
  • Implementing your characters and backgrounds into a story with mechanics using a game engine
  • Creating narrative games and/or visual novels
  • Using a visual game creator
Materials needed:

  • Computer – PC OR Mac (laptops can be supplied on-site, but students are encouraged to bring their own if possible)
  • Mouse

In this camp, you will continue to build on your photography skills and explore your imagination as you continue to learn new concepts and skills. You will attend five one-hour sessions with an instructor and continue to participate in a 1-2 hour weekly photo assignment! Get ready to expand your photography knowledge by competing in weekly photo challenges and growing your artistry skills!

 
This camp focuses on photography, art and creativity. Only 10 seats per section are available.

Ages: 10-16

Recommended: Completion of Camp Canon - Photo Foundations or basic photography experience.
