A variety of art camps to introduce youth to digital media design will be offrered remotely this summer through Red River College. Camps are designed for a variety of platforms: iPad only (using the Procreate art app); Mac or PC operating systems and / or tradition (paper) mediums. Students will have instruction and lab time included in each session.
All camps will be livestreamed with chat options for questions during the lesson. Classes include lab hours where kids can work with the supervision of their teacher. Some classes have handouts and extra work to be done during the student's own time.

SEMR-9067Certified Food Handler Training Program Level 1
Students will take an examination focusing on commercial food service sanitation and safety issues. Upon successful completion they will receive a Food Handlers Certificate provided by the City of Winnipeg Environmental Health Services.
Design your own unique digital illustration with the same tools used by the pros. By the end of this five-day online camp, you will have a digital art piece that you can share with others.

The most common gesture shortcuts
How to scale and manipulate your brushes
How to navigate your layers, and use them efficiently

Calling all rainbow gamers! Meet your peers, learn game development and develop new skills from 2SLGBTQIA industry professionals and allies in a safe and supportive environment. Whether your passions and talents lie in drawing, writing, animation, music or programming, you are welcomed.
This camp is offered by Red River College Polytechnic and New Media Manitoba and focuses on technology, art and creativity. Only 12 seats are available.

No previous game development experience is required. Come with an open mind, a desire to learn, and see what a powerful creative medium video game development can be.
Ages: 13-18.
Topics include:
Character design – anatomy, composition, proportion and shape
What works and what doesn’t work and what you like and don’t like (exploring favourite games and genres)
Storytelling – nonlinear and traditional
Creating worlds, characters, setting and the rules for that world and how that can be turned into game mechanics
Creating sprites and backgrounds – using created images or pre-made, pen and paper images
Implementing your characters and backgrounds into a story with mechanics using a game engine
Creating narrative games and/or visual novels
Using a visual game creator
Materials needed:
Computer – PC OR Mac (laptops can be supplied on-site, but students are encouraged to bring their own if possible)
Mouse
Microsoft Teams app (included with registration)

Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.

Online learning is a critical component of course delivery in all Red River College programs. To ensure each student has the tools they need to achieve their academic goals, all Red River College students require, at minimum:
Off-campus access to a current computer with a webcam
A high speed internet connection
Recommended minimum speed: 10 mbps for download, 3 mbps for upload
Slower internet connection speeds may result in audio and video issues. Please keep in mind that if others in your home are using the same internet connection at the same time as you are, you may also experience audio and video issues.
