Start to learn the basic functions of AutoCAD (computer aided drafting software). Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to produce accurate and complete simple two-dimensional working drawings in both imperial and metric measurements. You will understand the concepts of formatting units, layers, text and dimensions. You will know how and when to add or modify objects, text, dimensions and hatching.
This course introduces students to the knowledge and skills necessary to produce 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD computer aided design (CAD) methods. Students will gain an understanding of construction and engineering drawing conventions, annotation methods, scaling and the fundamental tools and techniques using Autodesk AutoCAD software. Furthermore, students will examine how to add and modify objects, text, dimensions, hatching and blocks through the completion of moderately complex, two-dimensional working drawings using both imperial and metric units. This course is a prerequisite for CADD-1015 AutoCAD Intermediate.
This course introduces students to the knowledge and skills necessary to produce 2D technical drawings using advanced tools in AutoCAD computer aided design (CAD). Building upon the concepts learned in AutoCAD Fundamentals, students will gain an understanding of annotative scaling, layouts, scaled viewports, viewport management, block attributes and dynamic blocks using Autodesk AutoCAD software. Furthermore, students will be introduced to the use and management of external references, tables and templates. Students will complete two-dimensional working drawings using both imperial and metric units.
Build on the basic functions of AutoCAD learned in Level One by learning the more advanced functions of AutoCAD computer aided drafting software. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to produce accurate and complete moderately complex two-dimensional working drawings in both imperial and metric measurements.
You will understand the concepts of isometric drawing, annotation scales, model space and layouts (paper space), viewport control, printer control, blocks, attributes, templates and an introduction to 3D solids. You will be provided with access to AutoCAD 2017 software for installation on your own computer. Instruction is provided through written and video instruction in order to produce practice drawings and graded assignments. You will work at you own pace with completion within four months of registration.
This course is designed to introduce students to the tools, concepts and methods of modelling 3D content in AutoCAD. Explore AutoCAD's 3D modelling and visualization capabilities while you learn to create and edit 3D surface, solid and wireframe elements for documentation and presentation.
Learn, through practical demonstrations, how to explain the function and performance of a variety of building materials. Explore both residential and commercial construction. Examine the following materials: wood, concrete, masonry materials, insulation and moisture barriers, structural steel, window materials and exterior finishes. Study the following methods: steel and wood framing and finishing, concrete forming, masonry, structural steel erection and connection, site preparation, curtain wall construction, basic electrical and plumbing, insulation and moisture barrier application.

Study light wood frame construction and the production of working drawings for a small residential garage.

Produce architectural working drawings of a desing controlled single story, masonry-bearing and steel frame structure from written, sketched and oral data. Apply drafting techniques that meet acceptable standards.
Within this course students will develop skills through theory, drawing/sketching and application, to apply in designing residential homes, additions and preparing technical drawings. Emphasis will be geared towards creating and understanding lot plans, grades, creating floor plans, and learning the basics in foundations, joist systems, structural wood floors and roof-lines. Students will solve real design problems and be encouraged to use their creative abilities to design a floor plan.
