Admission Requirements

Your Academic History
If your academic history includes any of the following, please visit My Education for important information: post-secondary studies at an institution other than Red River College Polytechnic; Modified (M), English as an Additional Language (E), or GED high school courses; or home schooling; international secondary (high school) studies.
The college requires transcripts verifying your complete academic history including any public or private high school, college, university, or technical institute you have attended.

DOCUMENT SUBMISSION

Upload Through Your Future Student Account

  • Scan your document(s) and save the file. Ensure you keep your original documents as the College may request to see them at any time.
  • Go to apply.rrc.ca and log in.
  • Click on your application, then Supplemental Items & Documents.

If you do not have a Future Student Account or require assistance, please contact our Student Service Centre at 204-632-2327.

Submission of required documentation indicating proof of completion of admission requirements is due within 15 days of applying unless otherwise noted in the program's admission requirements.

However, if you apply within 6 weeks of the program start date, admission requirements are due within 5 days of applying.


***Please note that this program is available only to Domestic Students, which include Canadian citizens and students with Permanent Residence Status.


Offers of admission will be made in the following order based on date of application:

  1. Applicants referred by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  2. Manitoba residents not referred by CRNM
  3. Canadian residents not referred by CRNM
  4. Undeclared students - max 2 courses per term (will be approved by program coordinator and based on availability) 

Regular Admission Requirements

  1. Nursing Education and Experience
    • Submit the requirements listed for one of the following applicant groups:
      • CRNM referred applicants:
        • A letter of referral from the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
          or
      • Domestically Educated Applicants:
        • Proof of successful completion of a diploma or degree in Nursing from a Canadian recognized/accredited or publicly funded post-secondary institution and
        • Completion of a minimum 3600 hours of experience as an RN in the last 7 years
          or
      • Internationally Educated Applicants:
        • National Nursing Assessment Report within 1 year confirming:
          • Successful completion of a Nursing Degree
          • Registration as a Nurse (RN)
          • Completion of a minimum 3600 hours of experience as an RN in the last 7 years by submission of the Verification of RN Hours of Experience Form
          • Proof of Permanent Residency documents or authorization under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

            and
  2. English Language Requirements (ELRs) 
    • Every applicant must meet ELRs by completing one of the following:
    • We strongly advise you complete the ELA before submitting your application to ensure you meet required levels
    • Assessment results must be dated no more than two years prior to your application date
    • If you do not meet the ELRs for the Nurse Re-Entry Program, please contact RRC Polytech Language Training Centre at ltc-ircc-info@rrc.ca with Nursing and Health Sector Language Courses in the subject line

  3. Applicant Declaration for Check Documents Form
Program Progression Requirements

Program progression requirements are not due within 15 days of applying and should be submitted after you start classes.

  • Criminal Record and Adult and Child Abuse Checks
    • This program requires students to submit current original/official versions of one or more of the following checks:
      • Adult Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search (ACRVS) 
      • Provincial Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR)
      • Adult Abuse Registry Check (AAR)
    • If you have a criminal record you may not be able to complete the program
    • If you are listed on an Abuse Registry you will not be able to complete the program

    • These documents have expiration dates and should not be obtained prior to timeline indicated on the Applicant Declaration for Check Documents form
