Throughout the course, interpreting financial statements from a non-accounting manager perspective will be included.

A practical opportunity for the student to realistically develop a detailed program or plan for a small business of their own. Students will increase their understanding of what it takes to succeed in an entrepreneurial career and create a comprehensive business plan for their new venture concept. The venture can be a completely new business idea, the development of a franchise, the purchase of an existing business, the succession of a family business or expansion of an existing business. The final business plan is developed, designed, written and printed entirely by the participant.

This course focuses on innovation and entrepreneurial skills vital for success as a startup business or within larger organizations. The student will learn innovation, ideation, and business modeling strategies as well as obtain opportunities to explore and connect with Manitoba’s entrepreneurial community. New venture proposals will be tested through validation techniques, building of a minimal viable product and a feasibility report. The student will also learn and practice effective pitching techniques.

Digital marketing has redefined how businesses interact with customers. Building on Digital Marketing 1, this course introduces and then allows you to explore various social media platforms then strategically select and implement off-site social media campaigns on a variety of platforms. You will develop a digital marketing campaign. Using a simulation you will implement, monitor and adjust paid advertising campaigns, online analytics portals, social media platforms, and pay-per-click samples to gain a deeper understanding of digital marketing in an applied setting.

Marketing Strategies is the application of marketing principles and research. Strategic marketing aims to reach prospective consumers and turn them into customers of the products or services the business provides. In this Capstone course, the student will develop analytical and decision-making skills using case studies to make sound and informed planning and marketing recommendations. The student will also work collaboratively in teams to develop a marketing plan, implement a digital marketing campaign and create engagements with prospective customers using a customer relationship management system.

Project management is required by every business and industry to deliver products and services to the marketplace. In this course, the student will learn how to manage multiple projects on time and on budget. This course is the first step in preparing the student to initiate, plan, execute and control a project from start to finish. Through lectures and hands-on exercises, the student will develop a  strong foundation in project management that applies to organizations of all types and sizes.

This an optional credit that may be claimed by a student elected to one of the following positions within the Students' Association: President, Vice President Academic, Vice President Internal, or Vice President External Affairs. The student must complete the entire term of office (May 1st to April 30th of any given year) to obtain the Students' Association credit. A student is not eligible to receive both a Students' Association credit and a Business Administration General Studies credit. SAFE-2020Workplace Health and Safety
More Information

This course focuses on the role of legislation and government initiatives in protecting the safety and health of workers. The student will learn the rights and responsibilities of employees, employers and supervisors in complying with safety and health legislation. The student will also explore the ways that Human Resources departments support health, safety and wellness committees and other initiatives in the workplace by writing policies, designing safety training, and assisting with discipline. The student will also learn how to motivate employees to work safely, create an emergency plan, and conduct a job hazard analysis for health and safety risk management. This course will also cover respectful workplace conduct and legislation and workplace harassment and violence prevention.


CO-OP/Practicum Information

Are you a current Business Administration (BA) program student who would like to gain program-related industry experience to help jump-start your career? 

You can enhance your education through an optional co-operative education (co-op) placement. The 15-week paid co-op placement provides you with the opportunity to:

  • Apply the knowledge gained in your academic studies to a workplace environment
  • Gain valuable industry experience
  • Make industry contacts
  • Attain a competitive advantage for job search upon graduation
  • Gain practical knowledge about the workplace environment, including expectations, behaviour and ethics required to be successful.
  • Receive a BA Co-op Program diploma
There are a limited number of co-op placements each year (approximately 60), and the number of placements allocated to each BA major may vary from year to year. 

You will be competing for admission to the COOP program based on program grade point average (GPA) and interviews with potential employers. (Because of this competitive nature, not all students will secure a placement and placements are not guaranteed).

If you successfully secure a co-op placement, you will register into an additional term (Term 5) and be assessed tuition fees. Payment of the tuition fees will be required prior to the start of your co-op placement. These fees cover:

  • Work placement development
  • Pre-employment instruction
  • Employment related monitoring including support from and evaluation by RRC Polytech’s Work Integrated Learning Coordinator during and after your placement


Annual application deadline: September 15

APPLY to the optional co-op placement if:

    • You have successfully completed Term 1 and Term 2:
    • Have a minimum BA program GPA of 3.0
    • Have a Minimum grade of B in all program communication courses
Applicants will be ranked in descending order of program GPA and offers of conditional admission will be issued to successful applicants until all conditional seats are filled. 

Once you have received a conditional admission, you will be required to maintain your eligibility by complete the following:

    • Successfully completing all courses from Term 3 and Term 4
    • Minimum BA program GPA of 3.0 
    • Completing the COOP preparation course
    • Securing a co-op placement through an interview process
Once all requirements have been met, you will be officially admitted to the Co-op program.
If you are not successful in meeting the above requirements or securing a co-op placement, your non-refundable co-op program application will be cancelled and you will remain in the regular BA program.

Computer/Laptop Requirements

Beginning Fall 2022, the Business Administration program will require students to bring a laptop.

Business Administration requires a Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11 device. 

MacOS is not compatible with business software used in this program; please see footnote at the bottom of this page.*

Devices must be ready to use on the first day of classes (or orientation) and students should be familiar with the basic operation of their machine. Electronic resources, software and applications will be introduced in the first few days of the term and will be in use during classes almost immediately.

Students do not have to buy from a specific vendor or manufacturer; they are free to find the best device that meets or exceeds the minimum specifications for their program.

  • RRC Polytech will provide on-campus network connectivity, and will provide support for software licensed by the College.

  • Laptops with 4-6 hours battery life between charges are ideal for on-campus learning
  • Ensure you have a reliable internet connection while off-campus; RRC Polytech recommends a minimum speed of 10 mbps for download, 3 mbps for upload
*If you intend to use a Mac, you must configure your Mac to run Microsoft Windows. What does this mean for you? This means that your instructors will be teaching in a Microsoft Windows environment, and you will require Microsoft Windows to participate in classroom activities and to complete graded assignments.
