AUTO-1002Outboard Motor Repair

Participants will study engine operation, fuel system/carburetion, mechanical gear case, propeller and trim tabs, cooling system, ignition system, starting and charging systems, tilt assemblies, and off-season storage.  Participants are required to bring their own hand tools and their own project to work on.

The following topics will be covered in this course; Brake systems, clutches, transmissions, final drives, suspension, starting mechanisms, electrical systems, fuel systems, lubrication, and engines.  Participants require their own hand tools and their own project to work on.

This is the prerequisite course for the program.  Students will learn the theory and operation of small engines including the identification and function of all parts of a small engine, tools required for repair and trouble shooting and engine failure.  Participants require their own hand tools and their own project to work on.

The following topics will be covered in this course: Skis, front suspension and steering, drive clutch, drive belts, driven clutch, chain drives, jackshafts and axles, rear suspension, tracks, shock absorbers, brakes, engines and carburetor, ignition and electrical systems and storage.  Participants are required to bring their own hand tools as well as their own project to work on.
