Program Outline

The Occupational Heath and Safety program includes 16 courses that must be completed within four (4) years.

Part-time OHS courses are typically offered once per year in the terms listed below.  Most students take one two courses per term to stay on track for graduation.

Fall (September – December)

  • Hazard Recognition, Evaluation & Control
  • OHS Information Management
  • OHS Managing OHS
  • OHS Program Development
  • OHS Safety

Winter (January – March)

  • Ergonomics – Intro
  • OHS Documentation & Reporting
  • OHS Risk Management
  • OHS Safety Audit & Analysis

Spring (April – June)

  • OHS Health
  • OHS Hygiene
  • OHS Ethical & Legal Issues
  • OHS Environmental Issues
  • OHS Training – Intro

Other Required Components

  • Project Management Fundamentals: Offered on an ongoing basis with monthly start dates.
  • Workplace Experience / Capstone: Scheduled upon request once all required theory courses are completed. See CO-OP/Practicum Information for more.

Important Notes

  • Courses require a minimum enrolment to run. While we aim to follow the planned schedule above, courses may be changed or cancelled due to low enrolment or operational requirements.
  • Students are encouraged to enroll 2–3 weeks in advance of the course start date to help avoid cancellations due to low enrolment.
