PRAC-2300Consolidated Clinical Practicum

The Nurse Prescriber Consolidated Practicum is the capstone experience intended to facilitate your transition into practice as a prescriber in a supportive environment. During this time, you will learn how to synthesize knowledge and skills gained from previous course work and apply it to a specific client population. This course will provide you with an opportunity to apply the legal, ethical, pharmacological, and prescribing principles necessary for safe, collaborative and effective RN prescribing practice in an area of clinical specialty mentored and supervised by an authorized prescriber. During the practicum experience, you will apply the nursing process and the elements required in diagnostic decision making when writing and documenting prescriptions; including assessment, preparation, client education, monitoring, follow-up, inter-professional communication and collaboration. You will demonstrate critical thinking required for clinical decision making and diagnostic reasoning within a designated clinical setting.

Your authorized prescriber will serve as a preceptor, role model, teacher, and advisor as you become a competent, safe and confident nurse prescriber.
