CODE-9004NECB 2020 New Code Practitioners (5 Tiers)
Participants will develop the ability to interpret and apply the requirements of the Manitoba Energy Code for Buildings, including the associated Manitoba Amendments for use in the design of buildings, as well as instruction of the Energy Code Tiers in Part 10 and how they impact work in the field.
This course will prepare participants with the required knowledge and tools needed to meet the requirements of the Manitoba Energy Code for Buildings (MECB) 2020 Base Tier using the Prescriptive and Trade Off Path compliance options. Classroom experiences will assist in code compliance. The goal of this course is to promote problem-solving techniques and critical thinking skills using the code knowledge gained in the course and applying it to real-life examples and issues that have occurred in the field.

Additionally, the course will cover the use of the NRCan 9.36 Reporting tool, which provides a standardized reporting template.

New Construction Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) Upskilling and Continuing Education Course
Manitoba Edition
As Manitoba advances toward higher energy efficient standards and Net Zero Ready construction, the demand for well-designed and properly installed air source heat pump systems continue to grow. This course provides industry professionals with the practical knowledge needed to confidently design, size, select and commission ASHP systems in new residential construction. Participants will explore Manitoba's energy code tier requirements, learn key Net Zero Ready Strategies and understand the importance of accurate heat loss and heat gain calculations in achieving optimal system performance.
Focused on real-world applications, this course introduces CSA F280 heat calculations, equipment sizing principles and matched system selection, while highlighting common installation and commissioning errors that can impact efficiency and occupant comfort. Designed for HVAC professionals, designers and energy advisors, it equips participants with the skills needed to support high-performance homes and meet evolving code requirements. By the end of the course, you will be better prepared to deliver reliable, efficient heat pump systems that perform as intended in Manitoba's Climate.

An award valued at $500 has been established by RRC Polytech Continuing Education staff members and is available to any part time continuing education student with demonstrated financial need. The eligible candidate should submit a general application form, along with a short statement outlining how this award will make a difference. The award will be applied to the cost of an upcoming Continuing Education course. The application deadline is November 15th. Please note the name of the award to enter on the application form. Once the application is submitted, instructions will be provided for submitting the required documents.

Canupawakpa, Dakota, Dauphin River, Ebb and Flow, Gambler, Hollow
Water, Keeseekoowenin, Kinonjeoshtegon, Lake Manitoba, Lake St. Martin, Little
Grand Rapids, Little Saskatchewan, Long Plain, O-Ch-Chak-Koo-Sipi, Pauingassi,

One award, valued at $1500 is available annually to assist a student with a disability or disabilities (documented physical, mental health, learning disabilities, chronic medical conditions as well as a vision and hearing loss). Students who are experiencing significant financial need, and are maintaining satisfactory academic progress, may be eligible to receive this award. Students may apply by speaking with an Accessibility Specialist in Student Accessibility Services or the Manager, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. The application must include a letter of support from the Manager/Accessibility Specialist the student is working with and an essay or summary from the student describing their situation/need. One award, valued at $1500 is available annually to assist a student with a disability or disabilities (documented physical, mental health, learning disabilities, chronic medical conditions as well as a vision and hearing loss). Students who are experiencing significant financial need, and are maintaining satisfactory academic progress, may be eligible to receive this award. Students may apply by speaking with an Accessibility Specialist in Student Accessibility Services or the Manager, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. The application must include a letter of support from the Manager/Accessibility Specialist the student is working with and an essay or summary from the student describing their situation/need. The purpose of the Winkler Community Foundation RRC Polytech Award is to provide financial assistance to part-time and short-term program students currently attending RRC Polytech, particularly those who previously did not qualify for a Gordon Wiebe Award. This award aims to support students from Winkler and its surrounding communities by easing financial barriers to education and fostering community engagement. Award recipients will be selected by the RRC Polytech Scholarship Selection Committee, which will assess applicants based on the following eligibility criteria. Applicants must be a current resident of Winkler, MB, reside within the Garden Valley School Division (GVSD) catchment area, or be a former resident of Winkler or the surrounding community with strong demonstrable ties to the area, such as being a GVSD graduate. Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 35, have obtained a high school diploma or a Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) (formerly GED), and be attending full-time at any RRC Polytech campus. Furthermore, applicants must be pursuing a certificate or diploma program, as full-time degree students are not eligible. In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, the selection committee will also consider key factors such as contribution to the community, academic achievement, financial need, and strength of character. The general application form should be accompanied by a short statement outlining any contributions to the community and how this award will help them achieve their educational goals.
