TRAD-9034Energy Advisor Practicum
This course is currently only available to students in the Energy Advisor micro-credential program. If you are a student in the program, contact us to register.
This course covers fundamental competencies such as low-rise housing construction and renovation, building envelope, heating, ventilation, air tightness testing, house energy computer modelling, and air conditioning, building science principles and the house-as-a-system concept. It will also prepare students for the NRCan exam.
Learning Outcomes:
- Apply the foundational and house evaluation skills in practice.
- Interact and communicate with the homeowner to evaluate the home for EnerGuide audit process.
- Use HOT2000 software, along with home geometric and construction data, to estimate house’s annual energy consumption.
- Interpret the reports generated from HOT2000.
- Discus findings and potential upgrade opportunities with homeowner.
- Create EnerGuide label for the entire house.
- Submit the final home report to NRCan website.
Format:
- Features a work-integrated learning component where groups of students will be assessed in houses
- Additional details will depend on the COVID-19 protocols that are in place at the course start date
