CO-OP/Practicum Information

The Consolidated Clinical Practicum will provide you the opportunity to apply, in the practice setting, the knowledge and skills learned in the theory courses. You are eligible for clinical practice after successfully completing all theory courses and all practicum requirements.

The clinical practicum is 160-hours of supervised clinical practice in the area of clinical specialty completed over one-month (full-time) or two months (part-time). You will be working with a clinical mentor who has prescribing privileges and be under the direction of an RRC advisor.

All clinical placements will be arranged by Red River College and may take place in urban or rural settings.

Note: Placements cannot be guaranteed as spaces are limited and available on a fluctuating basis. There may be a waiting period for practicum registrations and placements.

Registration deadline for the clinical practicum: three weeks prior to the start of the practicum.

You must submit the following documents a minimum of four weeks prior to the start of the practicum:

  1. Immunizations and Testing
  2. Adult Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector (ACRVS), Adult Abuse Registry (AAR) and Provincial Child Abuse Registry (PCAR) checks conducted no more than six months prior to you attending the clinical practice. You must submit original documents. For more information, see Police Information Check

Note: If students have a criminal record, they may not be able to complete the program. If students are listed on the Child Abuse Registry or Adult Abuse Registry, you will not be able to complete the program.

  3. BLS Provider (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Level C with AED) - must be current within one year of attending the practicum.
  4. N95 Mask Fit required and set to the facility you will be placed at for your Consolidated Clinical Practice.
