This program is open to Manitoba residents of Indigenous ancestry only. Applications for this program received from individuals who are not a Manitoba resident and/or not a member of an Indigenous community will be cancelled with no refund of the application fee.

If you are 19 years of age or older and have been out of high school for a minimum of one year at time of application, and you do not meet the regular admission requirements, you may apply under the Mature Student admission requirements.

Red River College Polytechnic is a participating institution in the HigherEdPoints program. Through this program, students are able to convert Aeroplan® Miles and TD Points into funds to help cover their tuition. Family members and friends can also contribute to a student’s education by converting their loyalty points - anyone can donate their points to an individual student.

This course introduces students to a range of professions within the Business and Applied Arts fields. Students will learn about different career options in these industries through participation in a series of industry tours and seminars led by industry experts. Students will also develop knowledge and skills in team building, conflict mediation, values awareness, intercultural communication and safe and respectful workplace practices. An emphasis will be placed on building the professional behaviours that are important within a workplace.
This course introduces students to some of the technical skills required in the Business and Applied Arts professions. Working in a lab setting, students will learn basic skills and apply the principles of workplace safety. Students will also work in teams on an applied Business and Applied Arts related project.
This course will prepare students to effectively communicate in an academic context. Students will develop skills in reading comprehension, listening and oral presentation, as well as in technical and academic writing. Students will learn to summarize and synthesize information effectively in oral and written form. Emphasis will be placed on the writing process, grammar, mechanics and formats. Students will also develop research skills using Red River College's online database and the internet.
This course will provide an opportunity for the further development of the students' E-portfolios, providing a vehicle to hone the oral and written communication skills that were learned in term one. Students will deliver oral presentations, develop reflective writing skills, make work samples, write an academic paper and create brief technical and project management reports. Students will implement their research skills using the EBSCOhost database and the online catalogue, and will further expand their knowledge of the American Psychological Association (APA) format.
This course introduces the student to the principles of software applications including Windows, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. The student will be able to graph data and create, edit and manipulate documents, spreadsheets, and other files to create a technical paper.
This course introduces students to a range of applications that will allow them to network and collaborate effectively as a team, create written business communication, and deliver presentations. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills to navigate course sites that support lifelong learning and professional development.
In this course, students are introduced to democratic, facilitative and participatory approaches to leadership. Students develop skills to plan, lead, and evaluate empowering and engaging meetings, workshops and other group sessions. Students learn to set agendas that include content, process objectives and the techniques and methods to lead groups to work together collaboratively.
This course will build on the skills developed in Math for Business and Applied Arts. The course is designed to familiarize students with basic mathematics concepts such as exchange rates, indices, simple and compound interest, different types of annuities, mortgages, and business investment decisions.
This course will equip students with a strong foundation in the basic mathematical concepts necessary to be successful in the business and applied arts fields. This is a hands-on course; a large portion of time will be invested in using and applying mathematical concepts. The topics covered will include the basic concepts of arithmetic, measurements and basic algebra.
This course will equip students with the necessary skills to be successful in college. Topics include goal setting, time management, study and test taking skills, self-assessment, reflective practice and critical thinking skills. Students will also learn effective approaches to managing stress and develop strategies to become a more self-directed learner. Emphasis will be placed on building the intrapersonal and interpersonal communication skills important to college success.
This course provides the fundamental aspects and principles of project planning including initiating, planning, executing and controlling a project from start to finish, on budget and on time. Project Managers are required by every business and community organization to manage multiple projects for employers and clients. These skills also apply to student balancing responsibilities and assignments at home, work and school. This course will focus on developing a strong foundation in Project Management.
Online learning is a critical component of course delivery in all Red River College Polytechnic programs. To ensure each student has the tools they need to achieve their academic goals, all Red River College Polytechnic students require, at minimum:
1. Off-campus access to a current computer with a webcam
2. A high speed internet connection
• Recommended minimum speed: 10 mbps for download, 3 mbps for upload
