| Password Skills
(An in person English Language Assessment hosted by RRC Polytech)
This in-person, computer-based test is composed of four test modules: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The test takes 3 hours and 5 minutes to complete and is conducted in two parts. The first part assesses reading, listening, and writing, and the second part assesses speaking in a separate room.
Password Skills costs $139 to take through RRC Polytech.
Password Skills is hosted by the RRC Polytech Testing and Assessment Centre: E440, Manitou a bi Bii Daziigae building, on the fourth floor.
If you wish to do Password Skills remotely (not in-person), Password Skills Plus can be taken online. RRC Polytech does not offer Password Skills Plus, but we do accept the results for entry into program.

In this course, students will apply the concepts of Advanced Care Paramedicine to clinical practice in a hospital or acute care clinical setting. With direct supervision from approved clinical educators, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals students will gain contact exposure in various health related settings while rotating through several specialties within a hospital including the operating room, medical outpatient clinic, emergency department, respiratory therapy and critical care units. Students will be given the opportunity to perform competencies and will be evaluated on their ability to perform effectively as a paramedic team member in a limited role.
In this course, students will apply the concepts of Advanced Care Paramedicine to clinical practice in a hospital or acute care clinical setting. With direct supervision from approved clinical educators, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals students will gain contact exposure in various health related settings while rotating through several specialties within a hospital including anesthesia, medical out patient clinic, emergency department, obstetrics, pediatrics and critical care units. Students will be given the opportunity to perform competencies and will be evaluated on their ability to perform effectively as a paramedic team member in a limited role.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the prehospital assessment and management of traumatic injuries with a focus on prehospital trauma life support and interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). Additionally, this course will include an overview of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) emergencies. The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management of patient conditions related to various types of traumatic injury.
In this course, students will be introduced to ways in which paramedics can provide primary, preventative and/or specialized healthcare to vulnerable patient populations as a means of improving equity in healthcare access. The course will cover topics such as understanding the role of community paramedicine, interprofessional collaboration in healthcare, and providing care for geriatric populations. The knowledge gained in this course will allow the paramedic to use their mobile care response skills to bring services to members of the community who may not be able to access available services otherwise.
In this course, students will continue to explore ways in which paramedics can provide primary, preventative and/or specialized healthcare to communities. This course will expand on topics covered in Community Paramedicine 1 and will include topics such as indigenous health, care for those with chronic health conditions, and wound care management. The knowledge gained in this course will allow the paramedic to expand their roles to bring services to communities who may not be able to access available services otherwise.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of disease, illness and injuries of the respiratory system with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management of patient conditions related to the airway and respiratory system.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of disease, illness and injuries of the Cardiovascular System with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management of patient conditions related to cardiovascular compromise.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of disease, illness and injuries of the central nervous system with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management of patient conditions related to neurologic compromise.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of disease, illness and injuries of the reproductive system with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management of patient conditions related to the gynecological, obstetrical and reproductive systems.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of disease, illness and injuries to the neonatal and pediatric populations with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to assess and interpret signs and symptoms and develop a working differential diagnosis in order to initiate approved management techniques in neonatal and pediatric patients. In addition, this course will include instruction on neonatal resuscitation and Pediatric Advanced Life Support techniques.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of a wide variety of diseases and illness with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). Many systems will be covered in this course such as the Integumentary, Immune and Lymphatic Systems as well as non-traumatic illnesses to the musculoskeletal system, and EENT (Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management and treatment of a wide variety of patient conditions.
In this course, students will explore advanced theoretical concepts related to the assessment and management of disease, illness and injuries of the digestive and endocrine systems with a focus on interventions within the scope of practice for the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). The knowledge gained in this course will allow the Advanced Care Paramedic to develop a working differential diagnosis to assist in the management of patient conditions related to digestive and/or endocrine system compromise.
In this practical application course, under direct supervision and with guidance from a lab facilitator, students will gain hands on experience, building confidence, developing leadership skills, and learning techniques essential to an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). In a dynamic lab, simulated field environment students will apply theoretical knowledge that was introduced in pre-requisite courses, watch scenario based procedural demonstrations and then work both individually and in small groups, integrating best practice methods for application of skills, patient interactions and professional practice.
In this practical application course, under direct supervision and with guidance from a lab facilitator, students will gain hands on experience, building confidence, developing leadership skills and learning techniques essential to an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). In this course, students will apply the concepts of Community Paramedicine to clinical practice in a variety of community-based patient care facilities. With direct supervision from an approved clinical preceptor, students will further develop interprofessional collaborative skills to manage continuity of care and resource allocation for patients with complex conditions. Students will have the opportunity to conduct assessments, create care plans, and facilitate care for patients in the community including vulnerable persons, mental health patients, substance abuse patients and geriatric patients. Students will be expected to perform effectively as a community paramedic team member in a limited role and exhibit professional conduct in the clinical setting while being involved with patients and other healthcare professionals.
In this course students will apply the concepts of Advanced Care Paramedicine (ACP) to clinical practice during a field practicum. Students will be placed with a qualified ACP preceptor in the prehospital workplace for developmental mentoring, assessment of skills, and integration of knowledge at the entry to practice level of competency. Students will have exposure to the ACP work environment, spending hours on an ambulance responding to real emergency calls and under supervision, providing care to patients in order to build confidence and master skills required of an Advanced Care Paramedic. Students will be expected to perform effectively as an undergraduate Paramedic team member while exhibiting professional conduct at all times.
