MEDL-1048Foundations in Healthcare 1
In this foundational course, students explore emerging issues in the Canadian Healthcare System and consider how allied health professionals can respond to these challenges. They examine health needs, disparities, and barriers experienced by Indigenous peoples and diverse populations to understand factors that contribute to health inequities. Students learn the core principles of professionalism, reflective practice, and lifelong learning while developing skills for collaboration and ethical patient-centered care. Through case studies and simulations, they apply legal and ethical frameworks, practice communication in challenging situations, and demonstrate infection control techniques, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
