Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Ultrasound
Program Outline
- Program consists of seventeen (17) courses taken over three (3) academic terms.
- Beginning in Term 4 and ending in Term 6, students will complete three (3) Work- integrated learning - clinical placement courses.
- Full-time students will receive an advanced diploma in twenty-eight (28) months if all program requirements are met in consecutive terms.
- Program includes three (3) and six (6) credit hour course offerings delivered to full- time students over a 24-hour academic week in Term 1 and Term 2 and a 23-hour academic week in Terms 3.
- Program includes the “Communication Strategies” course to meet RRC Polytech’s communication learning goals.
- This program meets the standards of Sonography Canada and The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to write the national credentialing examinations for the CORE and Generalist Sonographer (abdominal/ superficial structures, vascular for generalist, obstetrics and gynecology) conducted by Sonography Canada; as well as the certification exams (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI), abdomen and obstetrics & gynecology) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
- This program is in compliance with the requirements as set out by Accreditation Canada EQual™.
