Residential Window Installation Best Practices
Ensuring High-Performance, Trouble-Free Installations

This two-day (20-hour) course equips window installers and related trades with the knowledge and skills to deliver high-performance installations. Through classroom instruction, live demonstrations and hands-on experience, participants learn how to select windows and apply proven installation methods for low-rise, wood frame construction. White the course primary focuses on new construction, it also addresses the challenges of window replacement in older homes.

- Select window that balance cost, performance and durability for a cold climate.
- Interpret code requirements, installation standards and manufacturer instructions that underpin quality window instillations.
- Install windows reliably using proven best practices for flashing, air/water sealing, shimming and fastening.
- Tailor installation techniques to local exposure and environmental conditions.
- Identify, prevent, and correct installation errors that compromise building envelope performance, occupant comfort and safety.

Valued at $1, 200, but for a limited time, this training is available to RRC Polytech students for just $120.

Prerequisites:
No formal prerequisites re required, but the course is best suited for individuals with experience or interest in construction, renovation, or building performance.

Materials Needed:
Personal protective equipment (PPE) including CSA-approved steel toe footwear, CSA-approved safety glasses. Dust masks and hearing protection to be provided. Camera or smartphone (optional).

Credential Awarded:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an Acknowledgment or Participation Certificate from RRC Polytech.
