This course is designed to introduce students to various career opportunities in the Electrical sector.  The course will include guest speaker presentations and tours of the relevant industries as time permits.

Trade Safety Awareness includes instruction on safe working procedures and conditions, accident prevention and the preservation of health in the workplace.  The course includes a seminar on General Safety Training, and lessons on Workplace Health and Safety issues, S.A.F.E., WHMIS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical and Fire Safety.

This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and practice in mathematical operations for technical problems.  The course is also designed to provide students with knowledge about scientific principles that underpins many electrical concepts.  Topics include the metric and imperial systems, algebra, area and volume, circuits, force, work, energy, power and light.

This course introduces students to basic business processes such as job costing, estimating, shipping and receiving, and inventory control.

This course introduces students to the basics of residential blueprints.  Additionally, related business practices are introduced.  Students learn to read and interpret simple blueprints in order to identify material required for a job.

ELEC-1011DC & Fundamental Elec & Labs

This course introduces students to the basics of DC and electrical fundamentals.  There are two parts to this course.  Part 1 involves theory, problem solving, and analysis.  Part 2 involves labs in which students learn to apply safety procedures and practices.  Students also learn to transfer theoretical concepts to practical applications of installing equipment in circuits.

This course introduces students to the Canadian Electrical Code.  Students will learn the basic knowledge and understanding of residential writing and load calculation.

This course gives students practice in laying out and wiring a residential occupancy to Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) requirements.

SEMR-9209General Safety Training

This General Safety Training (GST) teaches basic general safety content to arm students with the core information necessary for them to protect themselves in workplaces on all descriptions. Although some examples may consider Manitoba legislation, this course has been developed by occupational safety and health professionals using generic information that is not provincially specific.

When a student completes the Electrical Pre-Employment program and meets the requirements outlined by Apprenticeship Manitoba they will receive Level 1 Electrical Accreditation.
