Program Outline

Effective January 8, 2026, the Design Drafting Technician program will no longer accept new students.
All current students enrolled in the program will be contacted individually to arrange a personalized graduation plan and ensure a smooth path to program completion. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact mbaylon@rrc.ca.

  • Mathematics for Technology OR  Algebra and Trigonometry 1 & 2 
  • Technical Communication 1 
  • Management Principles 1  
  • Project Management Fundamentals  

Last Course of Study:

  • Applied Design - Project 

Electives:

The following technical electives are part of the program. You are required to complete a minimum of four of these electives, totalling a minimum of 160 hours.

  • AutoCAD 3: 3D Modeling
  • Autodesk Inventor - Essentials
  • Building Code Analysis
  • Construction Law and Documents
  • DC and AC Fundamentals 
  • Electrical Code 
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Manufacturing Basics 
  • Mastercam - CNC Programming 
  • Solid Edge - Introduction 
  • Statics and Strength of Materials 1 
  • Statics and Strength of Materials 2 

Note:  Students undertaking the diploma program will not be awarded credit for any elective courses completed within their 1200-hour certificate or diploma program. General college academic policies also apply.
