Learn the technical skills required to operate and maintain low pressure boilers and related mechanical equipment such as air compressors, generators, motors, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, steam or hot water boilers to provide utilities such as light, heat, climate control etc. for buildings and industrial processes.
You will have the opportunity to apply the theory in the Power Engineering Lab located at our Notre Dame Campus.

Low pressure plants refer to steam below 103 kPa/15 psig or hot water developing over 200 kW (20 BHP).
Topics covered: Basic mathematics; basic design of low-pressure boiler; boiler construction, combustion and firing. Automatic controls, water treatments, pumps and piping; steam - hot water and warm air heating, basic electricity; plumbing; basic refrigeration and air conditioning, maintenance and control.
