BUSA-9056Leadership Principles

Especially for Gen Y (born 1980-1999), the course serves as the first of three in a series addressing the development of Generation Y leadership. Find out what it takes to become an effective leader. Discover your style of leadership.  Discuss task completion, building relationships with your subordinates, becoming socially perceptive to changes in the workplace, utilizing your emotions in a positive and effective manner, and addressing challenging goals.
The course offers the opportunity to perform a case study analysis of workplace conflicts that require effective leadership, allowing you to apply your unique leadership characteristics revealed through completing the class.

  • Students will gain through self-assessment exercises an awareness of their own leadership philosophy, traits, skills, and behaviors.
  • Students will gain through the analysis of real-world case studies an understanding of the fundamental ways leadership is practiced in today‚Äôs organizations.
  • Students will gain through reflection and action activities an understanding and appreciation for the unique dimensions of their own leadership style, their strengths  and weakness, and ways to improve what they do as leaders.
  • Students will gain a conceptualization of leadership principles through reviewing the history of leadership theory and practice during the 20th century to present day.

This micro-credential course is non-credit and delivered through the Learning Resources Network (LERN) via their UGotClass online course platform. Courses will never be cancelled once registration is open.
