HUMR-2037Payroll Fundamentals 2

This course is the final payroll course of the Canadian Payroll Association's Payroll Compliance Practitioner program. You must successfully complete the Payroll Compliance Legislation course (HUMR-1035) and Payroll Fundamentals 1 (HUMR-1036) Upon completion of Payroll Fundamentals 2 (PF2), you will be able to:

  • calculate organizational remittances to federal, provincial and third party stakeholders
  • prepare accounting documentation for payroll
  • complete year end documentation
  • communicate all aspects of organizational remittances, accounting and year end requirements to internal, external and government stakeholders


Introduction to Accounting (Transfer of Credits)

This course is taken outside of the required core payroll courses, directly through a post-secondary institution and must be transferred into the student's file with the Association. Please refer to the section on Transfer of Credits for further details. Taking Introduction to Accounting before Payroll Fundamentals 2 is recommended but not mandatory.


To transfer the Introduction to Accounting credit to your CPA certification, you should follow the steps below:
1. Carefully complete the Transfer Credit Application (PDF) (available on our website at www.payroll.ca, under Certification>Transfer of Credits) with payment.
2. Submit official transcripts (grade reports, photocopies, and scanned copies are not accepted).
3. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the transfer request if you would like your original documents returned to you.
4. Attach the proper payment.
5. Send the completed package to:
The CPA National Office c/o Certification 1600—250 Bloor Street East Toronto, ON M4W 1E6 Note: Incomplete Transfer of Credit paperwork will not be processed. 

Please ensure you have completed all of the above steps.

Registration forms complete with payment must be submitted to the CPA no later than 10 business days prior to the course start date, to ensure the timely delivery of printed course material and access to the online material. For all registrations processed by the deadline described above, the printed course material will be shipped to your preferred mailing address by FedEx (a tracking number will be emailed to you) and an access code to the online material will be emailed to your preferred e-mail address, one business day prior to the course start date.

Other Course Prerequisites

Introduction to Accounting (Transfer of Credits)
Prior to enrolling in Payroll Fundamentals 2, you must successfully complete an Introduction to Accounting course (or an approved equivalent), not offered by the CPA. The official transcript must be submitted to the CPA along with the completed Transfer Credit Application for PCP certification. Note: To transfer credit(s), the "Payroll Compliance Legislation" course must first be successfully completed.

 

Prerequisites: Payroll Fundamentals 1 (HUMR-1036)  and Introduction to Accounting (ACCT-1971 Financial Accounting 1) or Bookkeeping and Accounting Small Business (BUSA-1026)


To transfer the Introduction to Accounting credit to your CPA certification, you should follow the steps below:
1. Carefully complete the Transfer Credit Application (PDF) (available on our website at www.payroll.ca, under Certification>Transfer of Credits) with payment.

4. Attach the proper payment. The transfer fee per credit is $50 + applicable taxes.
