This 40hr General Materials and Process course will provide students with the basics of the materials and processes subject. Topics will include: Nature and properties of materials, metals and metallurgy of ferrous and nonferrous metals, the methods and processes used in the manufacturing and manipulation of metals such as the casting process, mill working, forging, fusion bonding, powder metallurgy, welding and heat-treating. The course will also cover the types of discontinuities/defects possibly created by the processes used to manufacture an item and or by the service of the manufactured item.
Textbooks and Booklists
Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.
Note: Courses requiring a textbook will show "TR" in the Delivery field.
