This foundational course will introduce students to data
science and machine learning and how the analytical tools within can be used to
make data-driven decisions. Students will use industry standard tools to build
development environments and then write code to import, clean, and analyze
different kinds of data. Students will form a hypothesis based on their
analysis and learn methods to visualize and interpret the data to test the
hypothesis. Students will apply regression and classification algorithms on
real datasets and tell the story of the data in mock presentations to
stakeholders.
Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.
