In order to write the Trades Qualification Certification exams, students are required to produce proof of 9600 hours experience. An Industrial Mechanic is a "skilled worker who installs, repairs, improves, or maintains equipment used in commercial, or industrial establishments". (The Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act: Regulation 76/78R.) To become a qualified journeyperson Industrial Mechanic, you must pass the challenge exam under the Trades Qualifications Act through the Apprenticeship Branch with a mark of 70% or better and you must have a minimum of 6 years or 9600 hours of approved experience within the last 10 years. The purpose of this course is to prepare those individuals with the theory to write this exam.
