MECH-9002Pneumatic and Hydraulic Control Circuits

This micro-credential covers the basics of pneumatic, electropneumatic, and hydraulic control circuits in a complex mecha­tronic system. Students will learn the functions and properties of control elements based upon physical principles, and the roles they play within the system. Technical documentation such as data sheets, circuit diagrams, displace­ment step diagrams, and function charts will also be covered. By performing measurements on the control circuits, students will learn and apply troubleshooting strategies to identify, localize, and correct malfunctions. Preventive maintenance of pneumatic, electropneumatic, and hydraulic components and safety issues within the system will be discussed.


Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program (SMSCP):

This micro-credential is part of the SMSCP, specifically Level 1: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant. Upon successful completion of all four Level 1 micro-credential courses, you will unlock the following benefits:

  • Awarded the Level 1: Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant micro-credential.

  • Eligible to write the SMSCP certification exam, which awards a Level 1 certification from Siemens upon successful completion. As of August 2024, the fee to write the exam is $250 CAD.


Textbooks and Booklists

Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.

Note: Courses requiring a textbook will show "TR" in the Delivery field.
