The Project Management Institute (PMI®) is an international association of practitioners and professionals that subscribes to project management best practices. Information regarding PMI® and the requirements for a professional certification (PMP®) are covered through the program.
The certificate program is consistent with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide). The program also provides you with the knowledge to write PMI’s professional examination.
PMP®, PMBOK® and PMI® are registered markings of the Project Management Institute.
Proficiency in basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is essential to your success in this program. If you do not have these skills, it is strongly recommended that you complete Introduction to Computers COMP-1313 prior to beginning the program.

You must be a graduate of a certificate, diploma, or degree program.
Special Admission Requirements
If you are 19 years of age or older on or before September 30 in your year of registration, have been out of high school for a minimum of one year, and you do not meet the regular admission requirements, you may apply under the special admission requirements.
You must successfully complete eight courses to earn a certificate. You must obtain a minimum grade of C (60%) in each course.
You must complete the first seven Project Management classes before enrolling in the Project Management Case Analysis Class.

Take an in-depth look at Microsoft Project 2016 for entering, updating, and reporting on project activities, time and people. This course will provide you with a detailed look at tracking, baseline and variance, what-if scenarios, Gantt chart formatting, task linking and organizing, time-tracking, variance, customization, and tracking of project financials. You will explore new concepts such as peak units and task inactivation.
Prepare to write the Project Management Professional (PMP®) or the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification examinations. This course will guide you through the knowledge areas, processes, practices, tools and techniques required to successfully pass the examination. You will take practice exams to learn the exam writing techniques. You will work in mentored study teams.
You will develop a working competency in planning projects, scope management, resource management, cost and duration estimating, activity sequencing, and scheduling. Learn how to utilize Agile knowledge, skills, tools and techniques as a Project Manager for software development projects. You will become familiar with the different Agile methodologies, tools and techniques, and create Agile release, iteration, and/or daily plans. Learn about the many types of contracts: staff, non-disclosure agreements, non-competitive contracts, and non-solicitation of employees. Look at the different options and processes for procuring goods and services and examine the respective benefits of purchasing, leasing and renting. Other topics covered include intellectual property rights, solicitation, source selection, maintenance contracts, fixed price/cost plus, total cost analysis, and contract closure.
In this course, you will apply generally recognized practices of project quality management. You will learn to manage the processes to assure the project meets the needs for which it was undertaken. You will define quality concepts and terminology and describe the processes in quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control. You will describe quality goals including customer satisfaction and capable processes. You will examine project quality management from the perspective of the project manager, project sponsor, and project customer.
In this course you will develop working level competencies to manage risks that may negatively or positively affect your project. Develop skills in identifying risks, qualifying and quantifying risks, risk response planning and risk response control. The course will examine both the psychological and mathematical elements of risk.
Learn how to manage a team for success. Look at the human factor of team building, cover labour relations, and learn to manage people. Discuss ways in which to motivate staff and resolve conflict issues. Examine the team in an organizational context and compare the concepts of power versus authority.
This Micro-Credential will help you develop a basic introductory understanding of art and science of project management and the generally recognized framework, knowledge areas and good practices of project management. You will learn basic concepts about project quality, resources, communications, procurement, and stakeholder knowledge areas and processes.
