This course is designed to prepare 5th Class Power Engineers for the Interprovincial 4th Class Power Engineering Certification Exam – Part B. Students will follow the Standardization of Power Engineer Examinations Committee (SOPEEC) approved curriculum with a focus on the principles of refrigeration and their application within food production and preservation. Students will study the fundamentals of gas and steam turbines, gasoline and diesel engines, common types of pumps, and various methods employed for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). By the end of the course, students will have a basic understanding of the methods and techniques used to condition air for human comfort and health.This course is designed for 5th Class Power Engineers interested in challenging the Interprovincial 4th Class Power Engineering Certification Exam – Part B with the Government of Manitoba’s Inspection and Technical Services (ITS).Successful completion of this course will earn students partial credit toward their practical experience requirement. Students interested in earning their full practical experience credit can explore RRC Polytech’s full-time day Power Engineering Technology (4th Class) program.
Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.
