DCSP-1021Values and Issues in Disability

Students will be introduced to the role that values and attitudes play in the development of services and support for people with disabilities. The history of North American disability services and support (1800s – present) is presented, including the implications of institutionalization, eugenics. In addition, students will explore current topics that potentially have a heightened effect on individuals who have a disability.

Other Information

Distance Education part-time/online course includes 3 LIVE synchronous sessions - via MS Teams or Webex

Live sessions will be held on the day of the week that your course begins (for example, the course begins on a Thursday, your session will be on a Thursday) on Weeks 2, 8 and 15 of the course. Live sessions start 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. 


Textbooks and Booklists

Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.

Note: Courses requiring a textbook will show "TR" in the Delivery field.
