ULTR-2010Diagnostic Medical Sonography Physics 2
This course builds upon the concepts that were previously introduced in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Physics 1. Students will further examine the theoretical concepts of physics and instrumentation relevant to the safe and effective practice of diagnostic medical sonography. The basic components of ultrasound systems will be discussed – including the pulser, beamformer, receiver, memory, display, and recording devices. The processing of echo signals into a quality diagnostic image will be emphasized. Students will also be introduced to emerging technologies, the different types of Doppler ultrasound, sonographic artifacts, quality assurance, and potential bioeffects related to the field of diagnostic medical sonography.
