MBIO-3001Tissue Culture

In this course, students will learn basic techniques widely used in biotechnology research labs to examine the biology of cells from multicellular organisms. In the lab, they will have an opportunity to practice aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment and to prevent cell culture contamination. Students will also perform cell counts and extract components of interest from cell and tissue cultures. Several topics will be discussed in this course, including the culture environment and media, cell enumeration, and isolation and cultivation of mammalian and plant cells.
