MBIO-2000Nursing Microbiology

Nursing Microbiology (formerly MBIO 1016). This course examines knowledge of medically-significant organisms, how microorganisms interact with a host and the range of defences available to the host.  Theoretical and practical exercises in the control of microorganisms are included.  Laboratory experiences reinforce the understanding of the characteristics of bacteria.

Continuing Education MBIO-2000 (section 272204) for the 2025FA term will be offered in a blended format. Mandatory virtual orientation session on LEARN Tuesday September 2, 2025 @ 6:00pm; followed by asynchronous* (self-directed) lectures and virtual office hours Tuesdays 7:00pm – 9:00pm via LEARN. Testing for the course will occur on two Tuesday evenings 6:00pm – 8:00pm on the Notre Dame Campus and a personal laptop is required.  The MIDTERM exam will be scheduled Tuesday October 21, 2025, and the FINAL exam will be scheduled Tuesday December 9, 2025. Both exams will be held on the Notre Dame Campus and a fully-charged personal laptop is required. There will be no class on Tuesday September 30, 2025, and Tuesday November 11, 2025.
