READ-0050Level 5: Academic Reading for College Success

In this course, learners will prepare for success with complex multidisciplinary academic texts, reports, and articles. Students will build reading strategies to identify main ideas and details, as well as contrast ideas, recognize facts and opinions, identify author's intent, make inferences, and analyze text structure and signposting language. Students will engage in the research process to investigate individualized projects related to their post-secondary goals, applying proper documentation and citations to maintain academic integrity, and expanding their ability to learn and evaluate information through the research process. Learners will expand their academic vocabulary for a range of disciplines and genres.
