MANU-3041Additive and Composite Manufacturing
In this course, students will advance their knowledge of materials, processes, and technologies used in additive manufacturing and composite fabrication in manufacturing environments. Students will examine applications of additive manufacturing, including prototyping, tooling, fixtures, mold patterns, mandrels, and low volume production. Students will identify which products and components are suitable for additive or composite processes, interpret digital models and fabrication files, and apply additive tooling and composite layup procedures. Through demonstrations, guided practice, and hands-on activities, students will gain practical experience working with additive-manufacturing-assisted composite processes, such as layup sequencing, material preparation, and curing. Students will inspect printed and composite parts, analyze workflow efficiency, and document and communicate technical findings.
