WRKS-91784 Seasons of Reconciliation

4 Seasons of Reconciliation offers a concise primer on the truths and implications of the historical and contemporary relationship between Indigenous peoples and those who settled on their lands in Canada. It does this by providing foundational knowledge on truth and reconciliation that nearly all Canadians missed during their education journey and debunking myths and stereotypes.

Taking action towards understanding Indigenous perspectives promotes reconciliation and creates economic and environmental opportunities and builds partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. This is just a first step, and we encourage all participants to seek further learning opportunities with Indigenous people in your own region.

In this foundational learning we will cover:
  • An overview of truth and reconciliation
  • Call to Action #92
  • Economic reconciliation
  • The historical and contemporary challenges faced by Indigenous peoples
  • The importance of treaties and what is meant by: 'we are all Treaty people'
  • Truth and reconciliation in the workplace
  • The ongoing impact of colonialism, the residential school system, and the Indian Act.
  • Stories of partnerships, hope, and Indigenous cultural revitalization
  • Terminology
This learning is meant to enhance (no replace) local Indigenous knowledge. It is intended to provide a bridge that facilitates direct learning relationships with Indigenous people as a result of this heightened awareness.
