MBIO-2000Nursing Microbiology

Nursing Microbiology (formerly MBIO 1016). This course examines knowledge of medically-significant organisms, how microorganisms interact with a host and the range of defences available to the host.  Theoretical and practical exercises in the control of microorganisms are included.  Laboratory experiences reinforce the understanding of the characteristics of bacteria.

Continuing Education MBIO-2000 (section 285997) for the 2026FA term will be offered in a blended format. Mandatory virtual orientation session on LEARN Tuesday September 8, 2026 @ 6:00pm; followed by asynchronous* (self-directed) lectures and virtual office hours Tuesdays 7:00pm - 9:00pm via LEARN. Testing for the course will occur on two Tuesday evenings 6:00pm - 8:00pm on the Notre Dame Campus and a personal laptop is required. The MIDTERM exam will be scheduled Tuesday October 20, 2026, and the FINAL exam will be scheduled Tuesday December 1, 2026. Both exams will be held in-person on the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg and a fully-charged personal laptop is required.

Mandatory virtual orientation session on LEARN Tuesday January 5, 2027 @ 6:00pm; followed by asynchronous* (self-directed) lectures and virtual office hours Tuesdays 7:00pm – 9:00pm via LEARN. Testing for the course will occur on two Tuesday evenings 6:00pm – 8:00pm on the Notre Dame Campus and a personal laptop is required.  The MIDTERM exam will be scheduled Tuesday February 16, 2027, and the FINAL exam will be scheduled Tuesday March 30, 2027. Both exams will be held in-person on the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg and a fully-charged personal laptop is required.
