COMP-1247Python Essentials

In this course, participants will learn the fundamentals of the Python scripting language. The course starts with setting up the programming environment on the participant's local PC and verify the installation by writing their first "Hello World!" script and running it using the command prompt interpreter as well as from within the IDE environment. Slowly, the participants will add the building blocks to be able to build more complicated applications in Python. At the end of each section, participants will demonstrate their knowledge and what they learned thus far by completing a fun hands-on assignment. The course is intended to be practical, so students are encouraged to bring their own projects to discuss in class.

Students are required to bring their laptop with a preference of Windows 10. Earlier versions of Windows 7 or 8 will suffice.
