HEAL-1006Human Anatomy & Physiology 1 (ZOOL1071)

An introductory study of the structure and function of the human body. The gross and histological anatomy of each principal organ system is examined. The physiology of each organ system is also discussed. The principle of homeostasis is used to examine the correlation between structure and function and demonstrate the functional integration of the organ systems with each other. The importance of learning using correct terminology is stressed. Laboratory exercises support and enrich the theoretical content.

This course has credit hours in the Nursing Joint Baccalaureate Program.

Continuing Education HEAL-1006 will be offering 4 sections for C2025WI term:

Section CPN01 (263426) – Mandatory virtual orientation session on LEARN Wednesday January 8, 2025 @ 6:00pm; followed by asynchronous* (self-directed) lectures. There will also be an on-campus component every Wednesday evenings 5:00pm – 7:00pm on the Notre Dame Campus for the duration of the course where Q&A on course content and labs are administered. Students are required to work through course content in LEARN and labs administered synchronously* (instructor-led in real time) as outlined on the course outline. Testing throughout the course will occur on Wednesday evenings 5:00pm – 7:00pm on the Notre Dame Campus and a personal laptop is required. The FINAL exam will be scheduled on-campus for all students on Thursday April 3, 2025, 5:00pm - 7:00pm on the Notre Dame Campus and a fully-charged personal laptop is required.

Due to changing requirements of both regulatory bodies and post-secondary institutions we will not be offering a fully on-line section of HEAL-1006. The regulatory bodies and post-secondary institutions are returning to the requirement that face-to-face labs are required.
