HUMR-1024Accomodating in the Workplace

In this one day session you will learn a tri-party approach related to managing the Accommodation process for workers. You will learn what your responsibilities are as an Employer, The Union, or as an individual employee when dealing with a potential Accommodation issues. You will learn where Accommodation law comes from, review the case law that set the fundamental “tests/rules” for workplace accommodation, including assigning duties to accommodated workers, and understanding what you need to know when considering if you have reached the “point of undue hardship”. We will review Manitoba Legislation that directly impacts workers including a review of the expanding definition of disability in Human Rights legislation and recent changes to the Workers Compensation Act. You will also receive broad information related to the process that occurs and what you can expect as the Union, Employer or Employee when a complaint or appeal is filed that has Human Rights implications.
