New Construction Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) Upskilling and Continuing Education CourseManitoba Edition
As Manitoba advances toward higher energy efficient standards and Net Zero Ready construction, the demand for well-designed and properly installed air source heat pump systems continue to grow. This course provides industry professionals with the practical knowledge needed to confidently design, size, select and commission ASHP systems in new residential construction. Participants will explore Manitoba's energy code tier requirements, learn key Net Zero Ready Strategies and understand the importance of accurate heat loss and heat gain calculations in achieving optimal system performance.
Focused on real-world applications, this course introduces CSA F280 heat calculations, equipment sizing principles and matched system selection, while highlighting common installation and commissioning errors that can impact efficiency and occupant comfort. Designed for HVAC professionals, designers and energy advisors, it equips participants with the skills needed to support high-performance homes and meet evolving code requirements. By the end of the course, you will be better prepared to deliver reliable, efficient heat pump systems that perform as intended in Manitoba's Climate.
Total Learning Time: 40 hours

- Online Synchronous: 10 hours total
- In-person Lab sessions: 30 hours total

- Fourth-level refrigeration and HVAC apprentices
Textbooks and Booklists
Students enrolling in Part-Time and Online Education courses may be required to purchase textbooks and materials at participating Campus Store locations or online at bookstore.rrc.ca. Student booklists will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to scheduled course start dates. Please ensure materials are purchased in advance, to be available for the start date.
